पुत्र समृद्धिः वाचालकः वेदशस्त्रविचक्षणः

संकल्पसिद्वया संयुतः धनी गुणाढ्यः सद्गुणी

पंचदशवर्शे बहुविद्यावान्॥ १८॥

बहुलाभप्रदः॥ १९॥

पापयुते पापक्षेत्रे अरिनीचगे विद्याविहीनः॥ २०॥

क्रूरत्ववान् पवनव्याधिः॥ २१॥

शुभयुतेवीक्षणाद्धनी॥ २२॥

विद्यावान्॥ २३॥

गुरुणा युते वीक्षिते वा गणितशास्त्राधिकारेन सम्पन्नः॥ २४॥

 

putra samṛddhiḥ vācālakaḥ vedaśastravicakṣaṇaḥ

saṁkalpasidvayā saṁyutaḥ dhanī guṇāḍhyaḥ sadguṇī

paṁcadaśavarśe bahuvidyāvān || 18||

bahulābhapradaḥ || 19||

pāpayute pāpakṣetre arinīcage vidyāvihīnaḥ || 20||

krūratvavān pavanavyādhiḥ || 21||

śubhayutevīkṣaṇāddhanī || 22||

vidyāvān || 23||

guruṇā yute vīkṣite vā gaṇitaśāstrādhikārena sampannaḥ || 24||

 

putra a son, child; samṛddhi prosperity, growth, increase; vācālakaḥ talkative, chattering, noisy; vedaśastra Vedic knowledge or scripts, vicakṣaṇa bright, radiant, clever, versed;

saṁkalpa desire, purpose, persuasion; sidvayā accomplished; saṁyuta bound together, tied, related to; dhanī rich, wealthy; guṇāḍhya rich in virtuous or excellence; sadguṇī having good quality, virtuous; paṁcadaśa 15th; varśe a year; bahuvidyāvān very knowledgeable, highly educated;

bahu much, many, abundant; lābhaprada financial gain or profit;

pāpayute conjoined malefic; pāpakṣetre in a malefic sign; arinīcage debilitated; vidyāvihīna loss of education or uneducated;

krūratvavān cruel; pavanavyādhi disease or morbid state of body, rheumatism;

śubhayute conjoined benefic; vīkṣaṇaddhanī looking at, planetary aspect;

vidyāvān knowledgeable, educated;

guruṇā planet Jupiter; yute conjoined; vīkṣite look, aspect; or; gaṇitaśāstra science of ganita (mathematics, astronomy); adhikārena authority, title; sampanna accomplished, excellent, perfect.

 

Translation: If Mercury is in the second house person will have a good number of children, he will be talkative, well versed in Vedic shastras, determined, accomplished, wealthy, virtuous and full of good qualities.

In his 15th year he will accomplish high academic and enormous financial gains.

If Mercury is conjoined malefic or is in a malefic sign or debilitated (in Pisces) person will remain uneducated. He will be cruel and will suffer from windy troubles (rheumatism).

If Mercury is conjoined benefic or is aspected by planetary aspect from benefic, person will be knowledgeable. If Mercury is conjoined or aspected by Jupiter the native will be proficient in the Ganita shastra (mathematics and astronomy) and will be authority on this subject.
