Parampara

E-mail Print PDF

Word parampara or guru-shishya parampara comes from Indian culture and refers to the traditional passing of knowledge from a teacher (guru) on to a student (shishya). The word translated from Sanskrit literally means an uninterrupted series or succession. Almost all sacred literature describe the process and importance of transmitting the knowledge from the teacher on to student just like the sacred word (mantra) is given from the lips of a teacher into the ear of a student.
Nectar of Jyotish knowledge came to this author with the blessing of one of the oldest Jyotish traditions, whose roots are reaching the lifetime period of Sri Acyuta Dasa, faithful disciple of respected Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Sri Acyuta passed this knowledge onto the 12 disciples, who did the same themselves onto their students, and hence the chain of knowledge remained unbroken. This is how this ocean of sacred knowledge came to Sri Jagannath Rath. He was an author of numerous books in the Oriya language. Sri Jagannath Rath was the Jyotish Rathna of Orissa which is the highest appreciation in the field of Jyotish Vedanga in Orissa.
He was the father and guru to his oldest son Kashinath Rath. Kashinath Rath was passing on knowledge from tradition to his students through informal classes on Jyotish with his closest students and the best among them was his nephew Sri Sanjay Rath.

Sri Sanjay Rath is the first one to bring this vedanga knowledge in to the public eye, not only in India but also in other parts of the world. He is the founder of Sri Jagannath Center (http://srijagannath.org) organisation through which, in line with the traditional, knowledge is given from a guru to shishya, all over the world. He is an author of many books which brought about a completely revolutionary view on this field. Some of the books are: Crux of Vedic Astrology, Vedic Remedies in Astrology, Jaimini Upadesha Sutra, and others. Sri Sanjay Rath can surely be called pioneer in bringing traditional knowledge with a University program which is recognized from the Goverment of India (Kavi Kulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Maharashtra). He is also the founder of numerous forums for studying, as well as SIVA and DBC academy for jyotish teachings. He is also an editor of one of the most popular astrological magazines – The Jyotish Digest (http://sagittariuspublications.com/) and author of numberless confference papers all over the world (http://srath.com).

My name is Branka Larsen. I was born and raised in Croatia where I also spent most of my childhood. I finished High school as well as University of Natural Sciences in Novi Sad, Serbia. Even though my spiritual search started in 1996., I started to learn Jyotish in October 2001 under the guidance of my jyotish guru Zoran Radosavljevic (http://www.siva-edu.com/). In autumn 2004. I started to teach and hold first lectures in back then, beginners group of SJC held in Belgrade. I presented conference papers on a few national and international conferences. In 2005 I got the blessing of Guru to offer readings and in that way use my knowledge to help others.

From summer 2007 and together with 25 other students from all over the world, I got initiated into Jaimini Upadesha Sutras of Maharishi Jaimini. These  intense jyotish teachings are held every year in the Himalayas. Today this complex aspect of Vedic knowledge is my main inspiration.
Today I live in Copenhagen with my husband Visti Larsen  (http://www.srigaruda.com/) and enjoy complete dedication towards knowledge and spiritual evolution.

My sincere pranam and endless gratitude and prayers I prostate on to the feet’s of Sri Acyutananda Das, Sri Jagannath Rath, Sri Kashinath Rath, Sri Sanjay Rath and Sri Zoran Radosavljevic

This site is created as gratitude towards my tradition and it is inspired with wish that this supreme knowledge finds its path to those who needs it.
