अथ तन्वादि द्वादश भावस्थित बुधफलमाह

तत्रादौ लग्ने बुधफलम्

atha now; tanva part of the body; adi and other; dvādaśabhāva twelve bhavas or houses; sthita standing, being placed in; budha the Mercury; phala fruit, result; māha great; tatrādau therefore, therein; lagne Lagna or ascendant; budhaphalam the results of the Mercury.

Translation: Now begins the twelve houses beginning from the Lagna and the placement of the Mercury therein. Therefore we can begin with the results of the Mercury in the ascendant.

 

विद्यावान् विवाहादिबहुश्रुतवान्॥ १॥

अनेकदेशे सार्वभौमः मन्त्रवादी पिशाछोच्चाटन

समर्थः मृदुभाषी विद्वान् क्षमीदयावान्॥ २॥

पापयुते पापदृष्टयुते नीचर्क्षे पापलोकं गमिष्यति॥ ११॥

शय्यासुखवर्जितः क्षुद्रदेवतोपासकः॥ १२॥

पापमंदादियुते वामनेत्रे हानिः षष्ठेशयुते

नीचेशयुते वा न दोषः॥ १३॥

शुभयुते निश्चयेन धनधान्यादिमान् धार्मिक बुद्धिः॥ १६॥

अस्त्रवित् गणितशास्त्रजः सौख्यवान् तर्कशास्त्रवित्दृढ गात्रः॥ १७॥

aneka not one, many, much; deśe region, place, country, province; sārvabhaumaḥ ruling over whole earth, knowing the world; mantravādī reciter of Sanskrit texts or spells, enchanter; piśācha a demon, devilish being; uccāṭana eradicating, overthrow, causing to quit;

samartha very strong and powerful, competent, capable; mṛdubhāṣī speaking sweetly; vidvān scholar, educated; kṣamī pardoned, patient, enduring; dayāvān kindhearted, sympathy, compassion;

Translation: If Mercury is in the first house (ascendant), the native will be educated, he will have early marriage and will be well versed in Vedas. He will like to travel to many places (countries). He will be reciting sacred mantras and texts and will have power to free people from the influence of evil spirits. He will be soft spoken, learned, of a forgiving nature and kindhearted.

In his 27th year he will go on pilgrimages and will have enormous gains of wealth and will attain high academic skills.

If Mercury is conjoined malefic or is placed in a malefic sign native will suffer from pitta related diseases (fire element in the body), bilious troubles and jaundice.

If Mercury is conjoined benefic or is in a benefic sign, the native will be healthy. His body will shine like gold on account of good health, he will take interest in the study of astrology. He will have defective limb, will be inimical towards learned and will suffer from eye disease. In his 17th year he will have inimical relations with his brothers and will be deceitful.

If Mercury is in his sign of exaltation (Virgo) or in own sign (Gemini) he will have happiness from his brothers. He will go directly to haven (higher region) after his death.

If Mercury is associated with or aspected by a malefic or in his sign of debilitation (Pisces), the native will go to hell after his death. He will be deprived of the comforts of bed (sexual pleasures) and will be serving evil gods.

If Mercury is conjoined Saturn or other malefics, the native will suffer the loss of sight. If Mercury is conjoined with the lord of the sixth or a debilitated planet, there will be no eye trouble but he will be sinful and will be spending much on undeserving persons.

If Mercury is conjoined benefic he will have wealth, will be intelligent and a good stock of grains, he will be religious. He will be skilled in use of arms and in Ganita (mathematics and astronomy), will be happy and gain proficiency in logic, and will have strong body.

dṛḍha strong, solid, firm; gātra the body, a limb; caura thievish, dishonest or unfair dealer; bubhūṣakaḥ wishing to be of service to; bṛhannābhi big navel; rakta red color; pāṇi the hand;

śūro strong, powerful, heroic; balavān powerful, mighty; mūrkha stupid, foolish, silly; kopavān angry, passionate; sabhāna public; śaurya valor, might, heroism; dhanavān wealthy; cāpalavān unsteady, fickle; citrarogī manifold, different, various; krodhī anger, wrath, passion; durjanaḥ a bad man, villain, wicked man;

vidyāvān learned, knowledgeable; netra eyes; vilāsavān appearance, pleasure, diversion;

tatra there; pāpayute conjoined malefic; pāpakṣetre in malefic sign; pāpadṛśṭayute conjoined or aspected by the malefic; netra eye; roga disease.

 

Translation: If Mars is in the Ascendant the native will have wound marks (sore, blemish, boil) over his body. He will have strong body, will have stealing habits, big navel and reddish hands.

He will be very strong and powerful, foolish, angry, extraordinary heroic, wealthy and unsteady. He will suffer from peculiar diseases and will be of wicked disposition.

If Mars is exalted (in Capricorn) or in own sign (Aries or Scorpio) the native will be healthy, will have strong body and will get honors from Government enhancing his reputation. He will also be long lived. If Mars is conjoined with a malefic or inimical planet, native will be short lived, will have few children, and will suffer diseases and pains on account of vatta related diseases (such as rheumatism, gout, etc.).

If Mars is exalted (in Capricorn) on Ascendant person will be wealthy, he will be learned and will enjoy sightseeing. If Mars is conjoined or aspected by a malefic or placed in a malefic sign, the native will suffer from eye diseases.

रूपलावण्ययुक्तश्चपलः व्याधिना जलाच्चसौख्यः॥ १॥

पंचदशवर्षे बहुयात्रावन्॥ २॥

मेषवृषभकर्कलग्ने चन्द्रेशास्त्र परः॥ ३॥

धनी सुखी नृपालः मृदुवक् बुद्धिरहितः मृदुगात्रः बली॥ ४॥

शुभदृष्टे बलवान्॥ ५॥

बुद्धिमान् आरोग्यवान् वाग्जालकः धनी॥ ६॥

लग्नेशे बलरहिते व्याधिमान्॥ ७॥

paṁcadaśa 15th; varṣe year; bahu bunch, many, abundance; yātrāvan one who is going, setting off, traveling;

meṣa sign Aries; vṛṣabha Taurus; karka Cancer; lagne lagna or ascendant; candre the Moon; śāstra teaching, advice, rule; para better or worse, exceeding;

dhanī wealthy, rich; sukhī happy, pleased; nṛpāla a king, palace; mṛduvak soft and delicate speech; buddhi intelligence, reason, judgment, mind; rahitaḥ left, deserted, deprived; mṛdugātraḥ having soft limbs; balī strong, robust;

Translation: If the Moon is in the first house, the native will be handsome looking but unsteady mentally (or have type of shaking disorder) and will be happy at watery places. He will be traveling a lot in his 15th year.

If the Moon in the Ascendant is in the Aries, Taurus or Cancer, the native will be well versed in shastras (sacred scriptures). He will be wealthy, happy, have royal comfort and be soft spoken. He will have soft limbs and strong built (robust) but will not be intelligent.

Is the Moon is aspected by benefics, the native will be powerful, wise, intelligent, healthy, be clever conversationalist and wealthy.

If the lord of Ascendant is weak, the native will be sickly. If he is aspected by a benefic the health will be good.
